The Problem

The peptide industry runs on trust gaps

Every peptide prescription comes from a compounding pharmacy. Yet there's no public database of COAs, no quality scoring, no way for a clinic to compare pharmacies on anything but price.

🏥
Clinics can't verify quality
Prescribers have no centralized way to compare batch results, sterility data, or potency across pharmacies. They're flying blind.
🧪
No COA transparency
Patients have zero visibility into what they're receiving. No lot tracking, no test results, no way to verify their medication matches the label.
🏆
Good pharmacies can't differentiate
You invest in PCAB accreditation and rigorous testing. But to a clinic browsing options, you look identical to a pharmacy that does neither.
💲
Quality loses to price
When clinics can't compare quality, they default to price. The compounding pharmacy market rewards low cost, not high standards.

Regulatory Context

503A vs 503B — We Track Both

The compounding pharmacy landscape splits into two regulatory tiers. PepKey tracks and scores both, but our methodology appropriately weights FDA oversight and cGMP compliance.

503A Traditional
Traditional Compounding
State-regulated pharmacies
  • Regulated by state pharmacy boards
  • Prescriptions must be patient-specific
  • Not subject to FDA inspections (generally)
  • Cannot produce in anticipation of demand
  • The majority of compounding pharmacies
  • Quality varies significantly by pharmacy
PepKey still lists and scores 503A pharmacies. COA uploads, PCAB accreditation, and clean state license records all contribute points.
503B Outsourcing Facility
Outsourcing Facility
FDA-registered, cGMP-compliant
  • Registered with the FDA as outsourcing facility
  • Subject to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Regular FDA inspections and oversight
  • Can produce in anticipation of prescriptions
  • Higher bar for sterility and quality systems
  • Can supply healthcare facilities directly
✓ 503B registration earns +1.0 on the PepKey Pharmacy Score. Clean FDA inspection record earns an additional +1.0.

Questions & Answers

Pharmacy FAQ

Common questions from pharmacy teams evaluating PepKey.

For a basic listing: your pharmacy name, state, license number, and 503A/503B designation. For the Verified tier: copies of COAs for each batch you want scored (PDF or structured data). We also pull public records — FDA inspection database, state pharmacy board records, PCAB accreditation list — automatically.
Two audiences: (1) Clinics actively searching for pharmacy partners on PepKey see your COA history and aggregate pass rate. (2) Patients who have a prescription from your pharmacy can look up their specific lot number in the PepKey app to confirm COA status. COAs are not publicly indexed or searchable by lot number outside of those contexts.
You'll receive a lower score — specifically, you won't earn the +2.0 COA upload points or the +1.5 COA quality points (3.5 combined). But you're still listed and scored on all other verifiable criteria. A 503B pharmacy with clean FDA inspections and PCAB accreditation that doesn't upload COAs can still score in the 4–5 range. Uploading COAs is the single highest-leverage action for improving your score.
No. COAs are product-level documents — they describe a batch of compound, not a patient. There is no patient-identifiable information in a COA. Lot numbers are manufacturing identifiers, not patient identifiers. HIPAA governs Protected Health Information (PHI); COAs contain no PHI. Our platform doesn't connect lot numbers to patient identities in any direction.
We cross-reference claims against public databases: the PCAB accreditation lookup, the FDA 503B registered outsourcing facilities list, and individual state pharmacy board licensing records. Accreditation points are only awarded when the status is independently confirmed — not based on self-reported data. If a status lapses, we update the score within our review cycle.
Yes. Any pharmacy can contact us at [email protected] with documentation disputing a specific score component. We review appeals within 5 business days. If a data source we rely on is incorrect, we will update our records and recalculate your score. Scoring criteria and our data sources are publicly documented — there are no hidden factors to dispute.
