Transparency is the foundation of PepKey's credibility. This page discloses our revenue model, conflicts of interest, data sources, and editorial independence policies.

🛡️ Our Core Commitment

PepKey's trust scores are based exclusively on publicly verifiable information and provider-submitted documentation. No payment of any kind — to PepKey or to us personally — influences a provider's trust score. This is a non-negotiable principle.

How PepKey Makes Money

PepKey generates revenue through the following sources. None of these affect trust scores.

Provider Subscriptions

Providers pay for Starter ($49/mo) and Pro ($149/mo) plans. These plans include enhanced profiles, priority directory placement, analytics, and inquiry routing. Paid placement is always labeled as "Featured." Paid plans never improve a provider's trust score.

Data API Access

Researchers, health tech platforms, and enterprises pay for API access to PepKey's provider verification data. API subscribers receive the same scores as the public — we do not maintain separate "API scores."

Future Revenue Streams

PepKey may introduce additional revenue streams including white-label data licensing, institutional research partnerships, or patient-facing features. Any new revenue sources that could affect scoring will be disclosed here before implementation.

Conflicts of Interest

Founder Background

Mike Paepke, PA-C, MMSc (founder) does not currently hold equity in, employment with, or advisory positions at any peptide provider, compounding pharmacy, or peptide supplier. If this changes, it will be disclosed here within 30 days.

Investors & Advisors

PepKey is currently self-funded. If outside investors or advisors with interests in the peptide therapy market are added, their identities and interests will be disclosed here. No investor or advisor has the ability to influence trust scores.

Provider Relationships

PepKey's scoring methodology evaluates all providers on the same criteria, regardless of whether they are paying customers. A paid provider with poor documentation practices receives a lower score than a free-tier provider with excellent documentation.

Editorial Independence

Trust scores are calculated algorithmically from objective criteria. No human editorial judgment is applied to individual scores except during appeal reviews.
Appeal reviews are conducted by staff who are blinded to the provider's payment status.
Methodology changes require internal review and are published on the methodology page with timestamps.
Providers cannot request score changes outside of the formal appeal process.
PepKey staff and contractors are prohibited from accepting gifts, payments, or other consideration from providers.

Data Sources

NPI Registry (NPPES) — Public data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Updated periodically.
Google Business Profile — Rating and review data retrieved via public API. PepKey does not modify, curate, or filter Google review data.
Address Validation — Third-party geocoding and address validation API against public business records.
Provider Website Analysis — Manual and automated review of publicly accessible website content. We do not use behind-login content in scoring.
Provider-Submitted Documentation — Documents submitted voluntarily during the claim process. These are not publicly disclosed but inform score improvements.
