What Is Kisspeptin-10?

Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is the C-terminal decapeptide fragment (amino acids 112-121) of the full-length kisspeptin-54 (metastin). Despite being only 10 amino acids long, KP-10 retains full agonist activity at the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R/GPR54) and is the minimal sequence required for receptor activation.

KP-10 has a shorter duration of action than full-length kisspeptin-54 due to its smaller size and more rapid clearance. This can be advantageous in research settings where precisely timed, short-duration GnRH stimulation is desired — such as IVF trigger protocols where a brief LH surge is needed without prolonged hormonal stimulation.

Research at Imperial College London has shown KP-10 can stimulate LH release, trigger ovulation, and enhance sexual arousal through both peripheral hormonal and central neurological mechanisms.

What The Research Says

Clinical studies demonstrate KP-10 produces rapid, dose-dependent LH release in both men and women. In IVF protocols, KP-10 triggers oocyte maturation with lower risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome compared to hCG. Duration of action is shorter than kisspeptin-54.

Neuroimaging studies show KP-10 activates brain regions associated with sexual arousal and emotional processing, supporting kisspeptin's role beyond simple reproductive hormone regulation.
